Houston Climate & Tire Challenges

wb_sunny

Extreme Heat

Houston’s 100°F+ summers accelerate tire aging and increase blowout risk. Proper inflation and regular inspection are critical for heat-stressed tires.

construction

Road Hazards

Houston’s constant construction creates debris, potholes, and road hazards. Regular tire inspection catches damage before it becomes dangerous.

Wet Conditions

Houston’s frequent rain demands adequate tread depth for hydroplaning resistance. We measure tread and recommend replacement before safety is compromised.

FAQ

Common Questions

Answers to frequent tire service questions.

Can my flat tire be repaired or does it need replacement?
expand_more
Most punctures in the tread area can be repaired if the hole is less than 1/4″ diameter and the tire has adequate tread remaining. Sidewall damage, large punctures, and damage near the bead cannot be safely repaired and require replacement. We always assess repairability honestly—we’ll never push a replacement if repair is safe.
How often should I have my tires serviced?
expand_more
Tires should be rotated every 5,000-7,500 miles (roughly every other oil change). Monthly pressure checks are recommended—critical in Houston’s temperature swings. Professional inspection annually or before long trips catches wear and damage early. Replace tires when tread reaches 4/32″ or at 6 years old, whichever comes first.
Why do I need wheel balancing with new tires?
expand_more
No tire is perfectly uniform in weight distribution. Balancing adds small weights to the wheel to compensate, preventing vibration at highway speeds. Unbalanced tires cause steering wheel shake, uneven wear, and premature suspension component wear. Professional balancing is essential for smooth, safe driving.
Should I replace just one tire or all four?
expand_more
For AWD vehicles, all four should match closely in tread depth to prevent drivetrain damage. For FWD/RWD, replacing in pairs (both fronts or both rears) is recommended for balanced handling. Single replacement is acceptable if the remaining tires have good tread and the new tire is the same model. We’ll measure and advise what’s safest.
